hello!

Are you looking for creativity, curiosity and courage? Here I am.

I’m a career shifter, with over ten years of work life experience in the field of Sign Language interpreting (Interpreter BA, Master of Humanities MA) and a lifetime interest in all forms of arts and creativity.

Service Designer Kate: I finally found the perfect field to incorporate my many interests and skills. I’m absolutely in love with design thinking and co-creation and only wonder why I didn’t find my way here sooner!

My background in interpreting has played an important role in my work as a designer. For example in understanding human life and needs, the importance of well flowing interaction, the struggles that overlooked minorities face, absorbing new information, desk top research and readiness to face new, unknown territories.

My strengths are in team work, facilitation, research, continuous curiosity, imagination and ideation. I’m honing my skills in leadership and project management as well as catching every opprotunity possible to deepen my skills in facilitation and accessibility design.

I tend to take a birds-eye view to understand larger ecosystems and connections. I have a growing interest in futures thinking, startegic design and social innovation.

I’m on the last stretch of my studies at Savonia UAS and will soon graduate as a Designer. My studies have included digital services, travel and hospitality services, events and experience design, graphic design, brand identity, leadership and visual design. I’ve taken extra courses on leadership, project management and Green Care and participated on an intensive one week course on creative methods combined to social work.

Creative illustrator Kate: I’ve been writing little stories and illustrating them since childhood. I attended a performing arts high school and for sometime I thought of becoming an actor. Even during my interpreting years my creative side has been bursting out in poems, croquis-drawings and small illustration projects. Now my creative outlet is mostly illustration, but I have other artistic projects from time to time. I’m slowly building my illustration career as well, with a plan to publish my own childrens’ book at some point.
